Closing date May 10: The “GET PUBLISHED” Award, Photobook Days 2010

My colleague Darius Himes is participating as a Judge at this international competition, Fotobuchtage 2010.  From the website:

“Photo artists can apply in advance with their photo book dummy. A jury panel views all applications and will shortlist the ten best dummies which will be presented to the visitors during the Photobook Days 2010.

The festival visitors can vote for the winner who will receive a photobook production with up to the value to € 25,000. Seltmann & Soehne is the „publishing godfather“ for the getPublished Award 2010 and is in charge of the production of the winner title. Both the winner book and the production process are going to be presented at the Photobook Days 2011.

Closing date: 10th Mai 2010, Participation fee 18 €”

Environmental photojournalist Gary Braasch shows how time exposures,

rephotography, and sequential images can evoke motion and change of

the Earth.  Braasch creates remarkable images and important

documentation of nature, the environment, biodiversity and climate change

for international magazines.   Time, LIFE, Discover, Smithsonian, National

Geographic, Scientific American and the United Nations have published

his images.  He received the Ansel Adams Award from the Sierra Club and

the Outstanding Nature Photographer citation from the North American

Nature Photography Association.

Braasch is author of Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is changing

the World, which Al Gore calls “essential reading for every citizen.”

Braasch’s keystone project since 2000 has been World View of Global

Warming, which is a dedicated photo documentation of the effects of rapid

climate change.”

This lecture is in conjunction with the Ansel Adams exhibit that will be on display until June 6, 2010 at the Phoenix Art Museum, be sure not to miss it!
