This years, SPE WEST regional conference will be held December 4-6,2009 in Oakhurst, CA

Start conjuring up memories of childhood summer camp life and Camp Winnemucka – because the SPE WEST “unConference” and Retreat will take you back! Located in the beautiful Sierra Mountains – you’ll be nestled in with your colleagues in summer camp style accommodations and served only the best camp style food that ECCO has to offer! Get ready and get in the spirit for Camp SPE WEST!

As the conference will focus on professional development, registration will be limited to 150 SPE members for an on-site ECCO stay and an additional 50 for an off-site hotel stay. 200 registrants allowed total. Members ONLY will be allowed to register this year. West members will be given an early registration option. Registration starts September ONLINE only. Call for Installations, Performances, Other:

Open to SPE  members. The Evergreen Conference Center has a vast outdoor and indoor grounds with open wooded spaces, a large pond and outdoor gathering areas. Installations would be installed for the length of the conference. Artists will need to install and de-install their own works and bring their own supplies to install or present their work. STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP call for entries:

Winners will receive free admission and a weekend stay at 2009 West Regional “unConference” and retreat. Transportation to and from the retreat is not included.

To apply please submit the following by email:

1. In the body of an email list Your Name/ Category-Grad/Undergrad/ Your School/ email address/telephone number

In addition, include with the same email the following attachments.
2. Two to three paragraphs speaking about your current work and what your photographic ambitions are for the future.
3. One letter of reference from a school professor.
4. Five .jpg images of current work.

All documents (except images) must be delivered as PDF file attachments and be included with the original email submission.
Incomplete submissions will be disqualified. (Do not send multiple emails with various attachments – Only one email submission per student.) Incomplete submissions will be disqualified.
