Carmel has a legendary photography history, and we would like to honor that heritage. Through a juried process, 50 artists will be selected for a month long exhibition at the Marjorie Evans Gallery at the Sunset Center in Carmel, California. Ten top winners from this group will be given a group show at the FARMANI Gallery, in New York City. One top winner will be featured in ARTWORKS Magazine.

Located in charming and sophisticated Carmel-by-the-Sea, along Californiaʼs breath-taking Central Coast,
the Carmel Art & Film Festival promises four days of total arts immersion. The festival will include: film,
music, fine art, and photography, showcased throughout the picturesque village and the historic Sunset
Cultural Arts Center – a gorgeous multi-use facility that includes exhibition space, lecture halls and a world
class renovated 700 seat theatre with plush seating, beautiful architecture and superior acoustics. The
director of the Sundance Film Festival is curating the film portion of the event, juried fine art and photog-
raphy exhibitions will open that weekend, with outdoor projection photography exhibits, art lectures, music,
and fine wine and food all promising to attract art lovers from all corners. The Carmel Art and Film Festival
will run from October 8th – 11th.
The photography exhibition will hang at the Sunset Center, with the opening reception held as a kick off to
the festival. The photography exhibition, however, will run the entire month of October. Out of all applica-
tions, 50 photographers will be chosen for the show, and of those, a group of ten will be selected for a
gallery exhibition in New York City, and one will be selected for a feature in ARTWORKS Magazine.
Hossein Farmani is a major collector and promoter of photography around the world. He is also founder
and president of the Lucie Awards™, the “Oscars” of photography.
Bruce Haley is the recipient of the Robert Capa Gold Medal, one of the most prestigious photography
awards in the world, for his coverage of Burmaʻs bloody ethnic civil war.
Kim Weston, grandson of legendary photographer Edward Weston, is an award winning photographer in
his own right, dedicated to the preservation and promotion of photography as fine art.
