Tuesday, May 12: Registration to open for Rhubarb – Rhubarb 2009

Today I received the letter below from the fine folks at Rhubarb-Rhubarb, the only review event where YOU set your own appointments with reviewers. This way, you know exactly whom you will be meeting with well in advance of the late July event, and can thoroughly prepare for your session making this one of my absolute favorite events.  The value to you can be tremendous if you are ready to register and research prior to attending.  You can book yourself breaks between reviewers, meet galleries one day, museums the next, publishers the next… in other words you can be organized and efficient when you know your schedule.  If not a morning person, don’t book early appointments.  Be smart on the front end and you will truly benefit.

If you are planning on attending, be study the reviewers and be ready to sign up at the appropriate time on the 12th!  Remember they are based in the UK, prices below are in Pounds not dollars.  Continental has the most direct flights to Birmingham from the US; if you are near the NYC area airports you have more options.  If you fly into the London area airports you must go into the city and take the train to Birmingham as the distance is too short for connecting flights.

As always, know the cancellation policies for event, hotel and airline commitments.

Dear Image Maker

It’s almost time… bookings for the 2009 Rhubarb International Photographic Review go live next Tuesday May 12th at 10.00 am sharp.

Currently there are 22 reviewer profiles available to view online before bookings open: http://www.rhubarb-rhubarb.net/01_festival_reviewers.asp

If you’re interested in attending the review, we advise that you read these profiles before next week, so that you’re prepared and ready to book.  There are less reviewers this year, so places will fill up quicker than in previous years.  More reviewers will be added as we go, and everyone who’s booked a place at the review will be informed as soon as a new reviewer is added.

In recognition of the financial burdens we’re all facing – and as a goodwill gesture – this year’s prices have been reduced as follows;

1 Day = £215.00
2 Days = £360.00
3 Days = £460.00

For every day you book you get six booked reviews, plus the opportunity to see more “floating reviewers” throughout your review day.

Our review is not juried but we request that you attend only if you have had at least one exhibition or publication during the last three years – beyond university – and are ready for international markets.  We want you to get the fullest experience possible for your money, so please only book if you’re at this stage.

Full event programme and details coming soon.  The site will be updated to coincide with bookings going live:  http://www.rhubarb-rhubarb.net/01_festival.asp

Looking forward to seeing you at Rhubarb 2009 – provocatively subtitled Photography Is Dead…
