SPE Western Regional Conference, San Francisco, November 13-16: Alec Soth Keynote Speaker

Fotovision has reminded me that ALEC SOTH will be the keynote speaker at the upcoming SPE Western Regional Conference; registration is affordable in comparison to many conference/portfolio reviews, and non-members are welcome! From their e-blast:

Description: “The Society for Photographic Education (SPE) West Regional conference will be in San Francisco during Nov 13-16, 2008.

The conference, which brings together photography educators, professionals and students from California, Nevada and Hawaii is hosted by the Academy of Art. This years SPE West Regional Conference is co-chaired by Fotovision board member Erika Gentry and Kathleen Laraia McLaughlin of Los Angeles.

This years theme is Inspiration: action, influence, ideas and the keynote speaker is Alec Soth, Magnum Photos. This conference is a phenomenal opportunity to meet and learn from fellow photographers, educators and enthusiasts and we encourage you all to attend.

Fotovision’s Executive Director Melanie Light and Program Director Adrianne Koteen will be offering a presentation Documentary in Action: Photos that Change the World on Saturday November 15th from 11:00am-12:00pm.

Fotovision will also have a booth at the conference and we’d love it if you’d all stop by to visit!
We are having a SPECIAL RAFFLE: Become a Fotovison member at SPE and you’ll be entered into our raffle for several fantastic photo books, including a signed copy of Sahel by Sebastião Salgado.
