“As part of the ongoing lecture series hosted by Aperture and presented by the department of photography, Parsons The New School for Design, Jessica Todd Harper will discuss her work. Harper’s painterly domestic narratives have recently been featured in Photo District News, Camera Austria, and The New Yorker. Her first monograph, Interior Exposure (Damiani, 2008), focuses on the private worlds of family and friends, and was inspired by her grandmother’s advance into Alzheimer’s—where identity, memory, and connections to the physical world come into question.

Harper’s images have been exhibited at the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Photographic Resource Center in Boston, among other venues. She has been named one of “PDN’s 30: Emerging Photographers to Watch” in 2005; is a New York Photo Festival 2008 winner; and a Lucie Award recipient. Harper is represented by Cohen Amador Gallery in New York and teaches at Swarthmore College and the International Center of Photography.”
