Photographer Ed Kashi Lecture/Workshop in San Francisco: February 28, March 1 & 2

Photojournalist and digital storyteller extraordinaire ED KASHI is giving a public lecture in San Francisco on February 28th at 7 p.m. hosted by the Multimedia Special Interest Group of the ASMP’s Northern California chapter, as well as a weekend workshop on March 1/2.

From the ASMP NoCal website:

“Ed Kashi is an award-winning still photographer who has expanded his scope in recent years to include multimedia. In 2006, he won the POYi Best Multimedia Feature Story or Essay award for, “The Sandwich Generation.” He co-created this sensitive and very personal piece with his wife, writer/filmmaker Julie Winokur, and collaborated with MediaStorm on the final production. Sandwich Generation is a great example of seamless integration of stills, video, and audio and Ed will probably have a lot of interesting comments about this project. Ed will also show and discuss some of his other projects and give his thoughts on some of the multimedia opportunities and pitfalls that lie ahead for the still photographer. Ed will also talk about how multimedia influences his planning and vision for new projects. Now living in New Jersey, it’s been some time since Ed has spoken in the Bay Area so we’ll be sure and leave plenty of time for audience questions too. You can see much more of Ed’s work on his website at: http://www.edkashi.com/

Special Workshop Opportunity: Thanks to a collaboration with fotovision, on March 1-2, fotovision will offer a weekend workshop with Ed titled, “Documentary Photography and Storytelling in the Digital Age.” This workshop offers a great chance and a rare opportunity to learn from Ed Kashi in a relaxed, workshop setting. Space is limited so you’ll want to sign up soon on the fotovision website at http://fotovision.org/pages/indexEvent.php?event=214. And if fotovision is new to you, you’ll want to check out their website closely because they are a Bay Area treasure for documentary photographers.
