Rania Matar Gallery Talk in Chicago, Friday January 11

Photographer Rania Matar will be present at the opening of her exhibition “Women of Islam” at the Chicago Cultural Center on Friday, January 11th. She will speak at 5:30 p.m.

From the press release:

“Boston-based photographer Rania Matar originally hails from Lebanon, where she has repeatedly returned in pursuit of images of her homeland. This newest body of black and white work provides an insightful, intergenerational study of women and the volatile issue of the head scarf in Muslim culture.”

Gregory Knight, Director of Visual Arts at the CCC will speak on Matar’s work on Thursday, March 6th at 12:15 p.m.
