PhotoPlus Expo: October 18-20th, New York City

With our first of five “PDN ON THE ROAD” seminars behind us (Atlanta was a BLAST! On to Chicago!), my calendar moves on to my marketing seminar in Minneapolis this weekend at the Minnesota Center for Photography, and past that to PPE mid-month. PhotoPlus Expo is one of my favorite trade shows of the year, and the one where I learn the most, hands down. As a speaker, I am able to attend the talks of my colleagues – something I look forward to all year long. This year I am particularly excited about a new presentation that Ed Kashi and Julie Winokur are giving entitled “Anatomy of a Photo Project: From Stills to Multimedia,” Brian Storm’s presentation on MediaStorm, as well as a new panel called “Breaking Into Multimedia” that is timely. Darius Himes from Photo-eye is moderating a panel on publishing photobooks, William Hunt is moderating a panel on breaking into galleries, and another on photo agencies – the offerings are diverse and rich this year, as always.

With so many new opportunities in the industry, it is an important time to learn. Don’t miss it! See you there!

Today’s DART Newsletter: “Photography Coast to Coast”

One of my favorite e-newsletters is AI-AP Design Arts Daily (DART), brought to you by the publishers of American Illustration and American Photography competitions/publications.

Peggy Roalf offered this today:

“This month offers the best in contemporary photography, showcasing themes that continue to ripple to the top of a very full glass. Here are 100 or so shows in the not to be missed category, covering themes of identity, race, class, the consequences of war, environmental concerns, and new approaches to setup photography, to name just a few. For new collectors, there are several benefit auctions that offer an excellent way to start a collection. As usual, please check links for details.”

Peggy’s lists are terrific – a tremendous amount of information in one place.

To receive this newsletter, fill out the information requested here on AI-AP’s website and in the comments area as to receive the DART e-newsletter.
