March 16th Deadline The Center for Fine Art Photography Call for Entries

The Center for Fine art Photography in Fort Collins, CO has two 2010 Call for Entries.

1.) Animalia, Deadline March 16, 2010, Juror: Karen Irvine.

2.) Consumption, Deadline April 13th, 2010 Juror: Brian Paul Clamp.

From the Center for Fine Art Photography website regarding Animalia:

“Theme: Animals represent strength, agility, power, royalty, vulnerability and fertility. They serve as important symbols in popular culture, national identity, religion, ecology, mythology and art. The Center is looking for images that insightfully portray the diversity of the animal kingdom.

Juror: Karen Irvine is Curator and Manager of Publications of the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Columbia College Chicago. She has organized numerous one-person exhibitions including: Anthony Goicolea; Shirana Shahbazi: Goftare Nik/Good Words; Jason Salavon; Paul Shambroom: Evidence of Democracy; and Alec Soth: Sleeping by the Mississippi. Thematic group exhibitions include Audible Imagery: Sound and Photography; The Furtive Gaze, Camera/Action: Performance and Photography; and Anticipation.

Exhibition and Awards: With selection for this exhibition, artists and their work will be seen by an international audience of collectors, curators, art consultants and others who appreciate the fine art of photography.

March 11 at PRC in Boston: Julie Blackmon Lecture

Artist JULIE BLACKMON will present a lecture on Thursday, March 11th at 7:00 pm at the Photographic Resource Center at Boston University.

MBTA – Green Line “B” train, (BU Central)

Cost:
Members $10, Non-Members $15, Full-time students $5
Free for Students of Institutional Members

Join us on Thursday, March 11th, 2010 for a lecture by photographer Julie Blackmon. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Critical Mass Book Award in 2006, PDN’s “30″ in 2007, and American Photo’s Emerging Photographer in 2008. Her monograph, Domestic Vacations was published by Radius Books in 2008.

Blackmon is included in numerous collections including the George Eastman House, Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and numerous private collections. Blackmon first appeared in the exhibition Group Portrait at the PRC in 2005, one of her first exhibitions.”

The following evening, March 12th, there will be a public reception with the artist for the opening of her exhibition at the Robert Klein Gallery. 6:00-8:00 pm located at 38 Newbury St. Boston, MA. This exhibition will run from March 12-April 10th.
